I recently had the privilege of collaborating with Chris Collins on a major art installation piece for St. Paul’s N.S. Drogheda. Chris and I worked closely together on the initial design of the seating area, which is based on the shape of a lake/river boat. Chris was great to work with. While he was always aware of the possibilities and limitations of the boat shape, he was extremely open to pushing the boundaries of this medium; to allow a design to evolve that would bring the client’s concept to fruition in skilfully crafted wood. When the design shape was complete Chris crafted and shaped a beautifully sculpted seating area, which links superbly well with the overall multi-disciplined art piece. Every aspect of working with Chris was immensely positive and I would be honoured to have the opportunity to work with Chris again. I have no doubt that Chris would give the same care and attention to detail, that makes a great craftsman, to any other project he is commission to work on.

Chris was the boatbuilding mentor on a community project involving volunteers building the 40ft Bantry Bay longboat, "Sionn Mhara ". The project was completed to the highest standard and the boat is being used regularly in a local club. It was loaned to the Russian team for the 2018 Atlantic Challenge in N. Ireland where it withstood the rigours of competition use. It's a credit to his boatbuilding skill and attention to detail.
